The latest data shows continued progress in combatting Coronavirus locally. On vaccines, over 250,000 vaccines have now been administered across Surrey. Elmbridge’s vaccination centres have been doing a brilliant job, and it was great to visit The Heart Centre in Walton recently, where the old H&M has been converted to deliver vaccines to the community.
A fire at the Emberbrook Health Centre in Thames Ditton has forced the vaccination centre there to move to the Thames Ditton Centre for the Community nearby, but the team did an incredible job to protect the vaccine supply.
The latest falling case numbers in Elmbridge are also encouraging. In the seven days ending on 18 February (the latest data available), we saw 64.3 cases per 100,000 people. Before lockdown, our case rate was almost 800 per 100,000 people. This is really positive news, and testament to the sacrifices of so many local residents.
As I explained yesterday, progress on both vaccines and case rates has allowed us to outline a roadmap out of lockdown. For now, it’s important to keep to the rules – stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.
