On a recent visit to Hinchley Wood, I spoke to some local businesses about their recovery from the pandemic and what the government is doing to help small businesses.
I heard from business owners and employees about the value of government support during the pandemic – from Bounce Back Loans to furlough – and learned about the challenges facing our local shops and traders in Hinchley Wood.
In March, the Chancellor announced measures to support businesses, including 50% business rates discount for retail, leisure, and hospitality businesses worth up to £110,000 from April - a £5,000 tax cut for the typical pub.
Business employment taxes have also been cut, with the Employment Allowance raised to £5,000.
I stand ready as their local MP to help our local shops and high streets in any way I can.
