President Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has caused immense hardship to the people of Ukraine.
As the Prime Minister reaffirmed over the weekend, this act of aggression must fail and be seen to fail. As the international community presses hard against the Russian government for its actions, many members of the public and Elmbridge residents are thinking about what they can do to help the people of Ukraine.
One of the simplest ways to help is to donate to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine humanitarian appeal. The government matched £25 million of public donations to this appeal. You can find out more and donate here.
Surrey County Council have suggested that residents donate to the Red Cross Appeal (here), and Elmbridge Borough Council have published a list of links to various charities taking donations for Ukraine – available here.
There are lots of organisations across the UK and internationally who have launched appeals, and you may also wish to donate through these organisations. To make sure your donation is made safely and effectively, you can check the charity’s name and registration number here.
