On Friday last week, I had a great visit to Ashley Church of England Primary School in Walton.
I gave a talk to years 5 and 6 in the school hall, about what it means to be an MP and my roles as Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary.
The pupils had plenty of really interesting and insightful questions, particularly on climate change – it was clear they were paying attention to the COP26 Summit in Glasgow.
Next, I met the School Council, where I was impressed by the pupils’ enthusiasm for representing their peers, and improving the school.
Finally, this was a good opportunity to catch up with the teachers – including Headteacher Jennie Ratcliff, and the Deputy and Assistant Headteachers. I thanked them for all their efforts to keep learning going through the lockdowns, and in keeping the school safe once pupils began to return.
