In recent weeks there have been a number of announcements from government, and decisions by local councils, about the funding that Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC) and Surrey County Council (SCC) will have access to next year (2021/22).
Most importantly, the government has allocated significant new funding to support our local councils through Coronavirus next year. EBC and SCC will receive £521,637 and £19.98m respectively in emergency grant funding, to spend as they see fit in responding to the pressures of the pandemic. This is encouraging news for local residents because it will ensure that both councils can maintain high quality services, despite the difficulty of Coronavirus.
In more good news, both councils are also receiving funding to give Council Tax relief to those least able to pay. EBC and SCC will receive £192,453 and £8.6m respectively for this purpose.
