It was great to become a Vice Patron of Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care (SDAC) last week. For over thirty years, SDAC has been providing advice and emotional support to people affected by substance misuse and connected mental health problems.
The core of SDAC’s service is a 24-hour, free and confidential helpline (0808 802 5000) which offers help and support to anyone concerned about their own or someone else’s drug and / or alcohol problem. The charity also has more intensive counselling and therapy services, and an outreach programme to raise awareness of the risks associated with drugs and alcohol in schools and youth groups in Surrey.
SDAC has been dealing with higher demand during the pandemic, with their volunteers and professional counsellors working hard to help as many people as possible. I’m looking forward to supporting their work over the coming months.
