Earlier today I spoke to Brian Howells (Chair of Governors) and Sandra Cunningham (Headteacher) at Claygate Primary School, about their plans to renovate the school’s swimming pool.
The school plans to turn the current outdoor pool into an indoor facility, including new changing and shower rooms. This will be used by pupils during term time, and will also be available at low cost for the local community outside school hours. It was good to hear that the plans include a new community room next to the pool.
I’m backing the school’s application to Surrey County Council’s new £100m fund – “Your Fund Surrey” – which gives financial backing to ideas which enhance local areas. All things being well, Claygate Primary hope that the pool could be ready later this year. I’ll be supporting them all the way.
