Operation Warm Welcome is a cross-government effort to support Afghan arrivals in the UK – ensuring that they receive the vital support they need to rebuild their lives, find work, pursue education and integrate into their local communities.
Today, the Home Secretary Priti Patel has announced that Afghans coming to the UK who worked closely with the British military and UK government in Afghanistan, and risked their lives in doing so, will receive indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
Other measures as part of Operation Warm Welcome include:
- £12m for extra school places
- 300 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships
- Free English courses for adults
