It’s great to hear that both of our local hospitals – Ashford and St Peter’s and Kingston – are among the recipients of £700m of targeted investment to support the NHS this winter.
This £700m “Targeted Investment Fund” is benefitting 187 hospital trusts across the country, helping them to increase capacity and tackle waiting lists. Schemes receiving funding include plans to expand wards, install modular operating theatres and upgrade MRI and screening technology. This is part of the £5.4bn that is supporting the NHS response to the pandemic in the second half of this financial year.
Locally, the investment includes £556,000 for two projects at Ashford and St Peter’s, and £11.6m for two projects at Kingston. This follows recently announced funding to improve access to GP appointments, and support the local social care sector through the winter.
You can do your bit to support the NHS this winter, by getting your flu and Covid jabs (including boosters) if you’re eligible.
