This morning I paid a visit to St Matthew’s Church of England Infant School, to meet pupils and thank teachers for their extraordinary work during the pandemic.
It was great to meet enthusiastic pupils from the Rabbits, Badgers and Otters classes, who had prepared very impressive presentations and gave me some wonderful artwork.
This was also a good opportunity to chat to St Matthew’s Headteacher, Kathy Hutt, and the Co-Chairs of Governors Alison Boothby and Laurence Jones. I thanked them for their efforts over the difficult period we’ve been through. It was encouraging to hear how well the remote teaching provision worked, and to see how the pupils have settled into new routines and classes.
St Matthew’s ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating is clearly well deserved, and I have no doubt that the school will continue to achieve excellent results.
