I was very encouraged to hear that, last month, Surrey County Council (SCC) launched a new fund to support projects which will improve local communities.
This £100 million fund – “Your Fund Surrey” – will give financial backing to project ideas, submitted by residents and community groups, that will enhance a local area. Examples could include a new community centre, or football pitches.
SCC is encouraging residents to speak to neighbours and community groups about what their area might need. So, if you have an idea for a project in Elmbridge, I’d encourage you to take a look at the information on SCC’s website, here. You’ll be able to plot your idea on an interactive map, and comment or make further suggestions about other peoples’ ideas.
This is a very welcome initiative from SCC, and a great opportunity to make lasting improvements to our communities in Elmbridge. The first funding will be distributed in the spring.
