It was great to join pupils at Walton Oak Primary School this morning, for their last virtual assembly before returning to school next week.
I met a couple of the classes before beginning the assembly, where I talked to the pupils about my role in government, and the challenges that Coronavirus has presented for all of us. It was good to hear that ‘resilience’ and ‘endeavour’ are two of the school’s core values, both of which have been very important during the pandemic.
There were also some great questions from members of Walton Oak’s Pupil Parliament, giving me the chance to speak about my own experience of the current lockdown.
Finally, it was good to have an opportunity to thank the teachers for all their efforts on the pupils’ final day of remote learning, and wish everyone good luck for their return on Monday. My thanks to Walton Oak’s Headteacher, Dan Sonley, for arranging the assembly.
