Last month, I met with senior management at Glenlyn Medical Centre to raise residents’ concerns about changes at the surgery. At the meeting, I sought reassurances on GP to patient ratios and encouraged the team to improve their communications with patients about changes they are making at the surgery.
Following the meeting, Glenlyn have confirmed that they offer an average of 4.25 appointments per patient per year and the biggest contributors to these appointments are GPs. They have also published an FAQs page on their website to hopefully answer the questions many of us are asking about changes at Glenlyn. You can find this here.
I understand patients will still have concerns about the level of service being provided at Glenlyn, so it is good news that Healthwatch Surrey – an independent body responsible for listening to local communities and holding GP surgeries to account – will be visiting the surgery to provide information and advice to patients, as well as an independent conduit of patient feedback. This visit will be actively promoted so patients can share their feedback with Healthwatch, and I have also asked Healthwatch to confirm how their findings will be communicated.
