After much resistance, Lib-Dem run Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC) have finally accepted my proposal to introduce a PSPO to tackle illegal moorings along the Thames. They will be considering a consultation with residents on the introduction of a PSPO later this year.
I have been working to prevent illegal mooring along the entire length of the riverbank for 10 years. I have consistently favoured a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) as the most effective and permanent solution to illegal moorings.
I am pleased that EBC have finally reversed their position and are taking the views of Molesey and Walton residents into account.
I will be continuing to engage with local residents and community groups to ensure your views are fed back to the Council for consideration.
