On Friday, I was in Claygate to visit Rowan Prep School. This is a great local school for girls aged between 2 and 11, which does a brilliant job of preparing them for their future education.
I spoke to the girls about politics and government – including how I first got involved, and my role as the local MP and in government. We then moved on to the nuts and bolts of politics – how elections work, and what goes on in the House of Commons.
The pupils had plenty of interesting questions of a range of subjects, from climate change to human rights, and it was great to have a chance to talk to them about these issues.
My thanks to Mrs Clarke (Headmistress) and Mrs Webster (Head of Year 5 & 6) for kindly hosting me.
