Last week I paid my first in-person visit to Esher College since the pandemic, speaking to pupils about politics and current affairs.
I’m always very impressed by the pupils’ interest in these issues, and by the thoughtfulness of their questions. This visit was no different – there was a great turnout from pupils studying politics, but also many others who wanted to listen and ask questions. We covered Covid, the economic recovery, Universal Credit, and what the government’s doing to tackle violence against women and girls.
This was also a good opportunity to catch up with the Principal, Daniel Dean, on how the college has got on during the pandemic and its plans for the future. My thanks to Daniel, Head of Government and Politics Meir Shabat, and School Secretary Sharon Kelly for arranging the visit.
