Earlier today I had a good virtual meeting (in my capacity as the local MP) with Lorin LaFave and her colleagues at The Breck Foundation, which does important work to raise awareness of how young people can stay safe online.
I first met with the foundation earlier this year, when we spoke about the government’s efforts to improve online safety. Today, we were catching up following the publication of the draft Online Safety Bill, which will establish a new regulatory regime to address illegal and harmful content online.
The meeting was a value opportunity to hear the foundation’s views on the draft Bill, given their extensive knowledge and experience of this area. My thanks to Lorin, Emily, Sarah and Sharon for taking the time to discuss this important issue.
