Earlier this year, I posted about St Lawrence Junior School’s campaign to have road safety measures introduced on Church Road. This followed some worrying accidents near the school in recent years.
Since then, I’ve been working with Surrey County Council (SCC) to see what can be done. In the next step today, I went down to Church Road with Councillor Matt Furniss, who’s responsible for highways at SCC. We were joined by Damian Tucker, the Headteacher at St Lawrence, as well as some governors and parents.
We had a good talk about the options for new safety measures, including the possibility of a pelican crossing. SCC are now doing some more work on these options, and I look forward to hearing their solution.
