I was saddened to hear that a cyclist was recently killed in a crash on Molesey Road. My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this devasting time.
I understand many local residents are rightly concerned about the safety of Molesey Road. Therefore, I urgently met with local Surrey County Councillors to discuss what we can do to improve road safety on this busy road.
We are calling for the road surface at the junction with Lyon Road to be resurfaced to make it safer for all road users. I understand this junction is subject to heavy traffic, with many heavy goods vehicles using it. Therefore, it is important that Surrey County Council regularly inspects the quality of the road to ensure it remains safe.
Furthermore, I appreciate concerns regarding safety for pedestrians crossing this busy road – particularly by Hersham Station. ‘My Plan’ for Esher and Walton constituency includes improving road safety and securing better facilities at local train stations, so I will be following up on what we can do to improve the safety of pedestrians crossing this busy road.
