This morning, I was out and about with Colin McFarlane from North West Surrey Community First Responders, delivering Christmas parcels in Cobham, Oxshott and Esher.
It was good to see Colin again after I joined him during Volunteers’ Week in June to deliver prescriptions to elderly and vulnerable residents in Elmbridge, many of whom have been safeguarding during the pandemic.
Colin’s been doing a great job during Coronavirus, and delivering Christmas parcels to his network of supported residents this morning was a thoughtful way to bring some festive cheer to those who have been most isolated, and need a little extra care at this time of year.
We all know that this will not be a normal Christmas period. With Elmbridge entering tier 3 restrictions tomorrow, it’s more important than ever to keep to the rules to keep each other safe. However, as Colin is showing, this doesn’t mean that the great community spirit we have in Elmbridge will be dimmed. Over the coming weeks it will be particularly important to look out for and check in on each other, as residents have done throughout the pandemic.
