Earlier today I joined up with Councillor Steve Bax, and Elmbridge Conservatives Terence Alexander and Xingang Wang. We headed down to East Molesey to visit local businesses in Walton Street and then Bridge Road. I chatted to the owners of Hopscotch Shoe Boutique, Lily Blossom flower shop and Walton Road Garage, a wonderful family business run by three brothers which has been owned by the same family since 1899!
It was great to visit some excellent eateries. Miss Polly Café has done good things during Covid having organised deliveries. Mezzet, a Lebanese restaurant and Dish Café are going from strength to strength.
There’s more positive news with retailers in Walton Road setting up ‘We love Walton Road’ to promote and rejuvenate the High Street. There are plans afoot to plant extra trees and bring in branding and logos to create a more welcoming exterior. I’m ready to do anything I can to help with this exciting project.
It’s good to see businesses humming and footfall up. Together, support from both government and local residents are helping our high streets to bounce back from the pandemic.
