Every year, Small Business Saturday is an opportunity to celebrate and support all of the brilliant local retailers that we have across Elmbridge. From cafes and bars to dry cleaners and hairdressers, they are indispensable to our communities and a key part of what makes Elmbridge such a great place to live.
I know that this year has been one of unprecedented difficulty for local SMEs. The restrictions, which are needed to drive down the level of the virus, have hit businesses hard. This is why, over the past few months, I’ve been visiting scores of small businesses across the borough. I’ve seen the great work they’ve done in adapting to the restrictions, listened to their concerns and ensured that they have the support they need.
Now that the national lockdown is over, and businesses have re-opened, I would encourage residents to get out and support them (following the tier 2 rules). This is the best way to show our appreciation for the crucial roles they play in our communities.
