This morning, I had a valuable catch-up with Pier Markham, the co-ordinator of Elmbridge Community Link (ECL). This brilliant local charity does valuable work to enrich the lives of young people with autism or learning difficulties.
In normal times, ECL’s 144 members enjoy coffee mornings, arts and crafts sessions and days out. These are organised by three part-time staff and a very impressive 71 volunteers. It was good to hear from Pier today how ECL has adapted to the lockdown restrictions, including through weekly Zoom sessions and activities like online charades.
ECL is an example of the great community spirit we have in Elmbridge, and it makes a real difference for its members. You can read more about the charity’s local impact on its website, here.
