This afternoon I caught up with Julianne Ponan, the brilliant local entrepreneur behind Creative Nature. This is a great business which makes superfoods for allergy sufferers. I have some personal experience of the subject from when my children have had allergies, so it was interesting to hear about Julianne’s journey.
As an allergy sufferer herself, Julianne explained how frustration at a lack of nut-free products in supermarkets led her to build Creative Nature into the successful business it is today. She bought the business in 2012, and its products are now sold in major supermarkets in the UK and exported to several countries around the world.
Julianne has now gone one step further and become an Ambassador for Anaphylaxis Campaign, the only UK-wide charity for those at risk from severe allergic reactions. This position will help her to continue the important work of raising awareness of the issue and proposing solutions. With this in mind, we also spoke about her ideas for improving the availability of suitable food for allergy sufferers in hospitals and schools, as well as in the ‘free from’ aisles in supermarkets.
My thanks to Julianne for talking me through all the work she’s doing. You can check out Creative Nature’s products here.
