I had a productive meeting with local businesses at the latest breakfast gathering of my local business group, Connect.
I heard how local businesses are faring after the pandemic and talked about what the government is doing to help local businesses through the measures announced in the Spring Statement.
In March, the Chancellor announced a suite of measures that will help local businesses in Elmbridge, including a 50% business rates discount for retail, leisure and hospitality businesses worth up to £110,000, £1,000 cut to employment taxes, and two new business ‘Help to Grow’ Schemes.
This month also saw the handing over of the Connect Chairmanship from the brilliant Mike Cumper - who founded the group from scratch ten years ago - to a new Chair, David Worsfold. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mike for all he has done for the business community in Elmbridge and look forward to working closely with David in his new role.
